[2021] THE UNBREAKABLE CONTROLLER

Steven Brower, founder of Brower Propulsion Laboratory was tasked with designing an unbreakable controller to troll gamers and their rage quits due to laggy internet. The controller was designed with a durable aluminum shell, and is surrounded by soft foam that absorbs impact. Its bright colors and design is a combination of the crash test dummies aesthetics and a direct mockery of the childlike tantrums that can possess a gamer when lag ruins everything. I was the liaison between our creatives, and our mad scientist, Steve. It was a fun ride of R&D and trying to break stuff.

[2023] MGM REWARDS SHOEY BAR

During the Las Vegas Grand Prix race weekend, guests got to jump in on the famous F1 podium celebration by joining in on a “Shoey” at the MGM Rewards Shoey Bar. Those lucky enough, got to snag a limited-edition MGM Rewards-branded real driving shoes, filled with a specially crafted cocktail (kept safe in a waterproof liner) and raise a victorious toast, just like the racing champs do up on the podium. 3000 of these fancy italian leather shoes were made, and I managed to snag number 2799 of 3000.

I lead the production from creative conception of the Shoey Bar - working alongside architect Merica May from gray_matter(s) and ASHBA Studios to design, fabricate and customize the graphics of this lenticular bar - to drinking (and spilling) a Shoey on the 360 camera podium during the incredibly successful first night.

“eww you drink from the shoe?”
- everyone before knowing about the plastic insert

[2017] the shoe without a footprint
Cannes Lions: Product Design Shortlist (DROGA5)

My contribution for this ambitious project began with extensive material research with the support of Material ConneXion in NYC. How do you create a shoe without a carbon footprint? My main role was to investigate the possibilities of carbon harvested components, low-carbon emission materials, recycled textiles and polymers to minimize the over all footprint. This prototype represents the potential and impact design can have in the future of consumer products and environmental consciousness.

In addition to my research and material acquisition, I lead the design of the bottom of the sole. Inspired by carbon molecules I designed a 3D beveled pattern which was then combined with a faceted design to the sides to complete the whole sole.

We took away its footprint, but I gave it a sole.

[2023] INSTAX 2023 JOY TOUR

We were tasked to create an impactful and full of joy experience for INSTAX as they planned to tour the US again after the pandemic. A mobile tour with a modular photo installation that would immerse people in the joyful world of INSTAX. The biggest challenge was to create an eye catching one of a kind backdrop that could provide the flexibility to activate in many different footprints regardless of their size or shape.

I lead the initial creative exploration for the installation piece, and pushed the team to LOVE inflatables as much as I do. Our design team at McCann came up with really fun patterns from the brand colors, these were the inspiration for basically everything on the truck and the footprint. We brought architect Merica May Jensen from gray_matter(s) to further concept and design the immersive footprint that also served as backdrops to provide unique photo ops. She created a camera like module combined with the different patterns, and we worked alongside Bigger Than Life Inflatables to bring them to life.

[2022] MWVerse Metaverse experience at cannes lions

We created a branded experience in the metaverse using JourneeX as our platform for the Cannes Lions. The MWVerse showcased all the case studies that were submitted by McCann and sister agencies to the 2022’s festival. This became a multi-agency effort, so working alongside Craft, McCann NY, and McCann Worldgroup, I assisted with the production of this ambitious project, which included art concepting, user flow, and unreal engine library research.

[2017] las Vegas opening performance

With over 1,200 programmable LEDs, we created an unforgettable opening performance for a pharmaceutical company in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. In collaboration with a small but nonetheless great team of programmers, designers, and seamstresses, we created 8 light-up suits for acrobatic dancers for a synchronized multimedia performance. In the studio in NYC, I was responsible for the research and development of embedding electronics to conform to the body, building and assembling all the circuit boards, and developing systems to test each stage of the fabrication and execution.

In Las Vegas, my main role was to oversee, repair and adjust all the electronics and programming after each rehearsal, working closely with the directors and choreographers to achieve the desired effect.

Contributing to light pollution in Las Vegas, one LED at a time.

[2018] HIGH-IMPACT batting glove

Working alongside hand surgeon Dr. Mark Ciaglia and baseball expert Derek Hurley from Hit King Academy, we created a patented high-impact resistive protection baseball glove (US 2021/0052968 A1) based off the Universal Sports Glove patent design by Dr. Charles P. Melone. I lead material research and testing, created the illustrations for all the design iterations, and translated the handmade glove patterns by Wing & Weft Gloves into digital patterns in all sizes.

[2018] TRUTH ABOUT GLOBAL BRANDS 2

I lead the design, production and managed the budget for the interior design of this internal event for McCann Worldgroup. Working closely with the team at McCann Worldgroup, we took those ideas and truths of each region and visually developed the concepts further. I coordinated with various vendors from lighting, furniture, and rentals, to production assistants and venue staff to do a load-in and complete install of this event in 5 hours and break it down in under an hour on the same day.

[2014] little J

For my MFA thesis project at Parsons Design and Technology I made an interactive physical book for children to help them grasp the basic concepts of democracy, censorship and freedom of speech.

Throughout my tenure in the program, my exploration with soft circuits, electronics, analog interactions and reactive materials, lead me to create a fully physical experience with electronics and interaction in a classic book format.

The intent of this book is for children to understand the value of finding their own voice.

"The one thing you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can."
